Au Revoir Simone - “Sad Song (Pacific Remix)”

It’s like having been awake for about 1/2 hour and suddenly, on your walk to class, realizing the phrase repeating over and over in your head is what you really want, and that when they leave again, like they always do, you’re going too. You can’t really go, but maybe it’s just saying it that matters. “Play me a sad song, ‘cause that’s what I wanna hear. I want you to make me cry.”
This is, to me, an early-morning song. The rhythm is newly awake and alive, and happy, but not bouncing off the walls happy, just gently happy. Not that my description does it justice. Just listen to it and tell me modern indiepop isn’t amazing.
